Q. How do I upgrade from an earlier version?
A. i6000 v3.02 is provided on a CD-ROM. It can be used to install on a new i6000 instrument with IVD configuration or upgrade from previous versions 2.0, 3.0 or 3.01. i6000 v3.02 has been tested on IVD configuration instruments operated by Windows XP computers.
Q. Does version 3.02 use Hardware Key?
A. No. Version 3.02 uses software key instead. Default software key is installed with full installation.
Q. How does the Software Key work?
A. The software key is an encrypted file that stores the Assay types (e.g., IHC, ISH & Special Stain) and the formats (Open & Closed) that can be programmed on a particular system. A default software key is installed with full installation. The existing software key is retained during upgrade process.
If a desired combination is not available in the default software key, it can be ordered from BioGenex Customer Service.
Q. How do I check the available combinations in Software Key?
A. Available combinations in the installed software key can be viewed from About box in the Designer or Scheduler module.
Q. What happens to old protocols & reports when I upgrade to 3.02?
A. Old protocols & reports are retained when upgraded to 3.02. However, new protocols and reports are added to the system during upgrade.
Q. Do I need to Re-Calibrate after upgrade?
A. No. System need not be calibrated again after upgrading to 3.02. However, a mock run is recommended to verify all the operations.
Q. What happens to old software after I upgrade to 3.02?
A. Currently, i6000 v3.02 can upgrade IVD configuration systems, operating from Windows XP computers, only. Previous software will be upgraded to the new edition. Once upgraded, it is not possible to revert back to previous version.
Q. Is the 'Instrument Key' disk Serial number specific?
A. Though 'Instrument Key' disk is not serial number specific, when run on a system, it updates the software key particular to that system.
