![]() The Beginning
BioGenex was founded in the year 1981. From its start, BioGenex has since evolved to become a major player in the field of in situ diagnostics through its creation of high quality and value-added products and automated systems for histopathology, with wide applications in Functional Genomics, diagnostics and drug discovery. In serving the tissue and cellular testing market, the Company has dedicated major resources to enhancing product quality, providing exceptional technical support, and enabling market expansion through new products and technologies.
In the year 1991, BioGenex acquired the assets of American Bionetics (ABN) and within 6 months turned their DNA/RNA reagent business into a profitable operation. In 1994, the Company launched its DNA probe product line for in situ hybridization (ISH), which complemented its established IHC products. Also in 1994, an early version of the Optimax® automated immunostainer was introduced for market testing. Its second generation Optimax Plus model became available in mid-1996. The automated systems product line has enabled the company to reach a broader customer base, including large hospitals and reference laboratories, as well as increased its reagent revenues. |
