LN5 stains an unidentified antigen in cytoplasm of macrophages and histiocytes in hematopoietic organs. It stains mantle zone B lymphocytes of the lymph node and spleen, spermatogonia, chief cells of the stomach, ductal epithelium of breast and tubular epithelium of kidney. It is strongly reactive with cases of true histiocytic lymphoma but is negative, except for macrophages, in Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. It can be an important tool for the study of malignant and benign histiocytic lesions.This antibody stains the cytoplasm of a specific population of human macrophage and histiocytes.
