BioGenex launches in-situ detection of microRNAs in FFPE tissues on fully automated Xmatrx® system BioGenex, leader in slide based cell and tissue analysis, developed methods for studying miRNAs in tissue samples using the high throughput automated Xmatrx system. Xmatrx, a fully automated staining system offers performance, ease of use, and accurate real time results for detection of miRNA in Biomarker studies. Using fluorescein labeled probes, the Xmatrx yields exceptional sensitivity and specificity enabling visualization of miRNA in difficult FFPE samples by either chromogenic or fluorescent detection systems. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are naturally occurring, small non-coding RNA molecules, about 21-25 nucleotides in length. miRNAs are posttranscriptional regulators that bind to complementary sequences on target messenger RNA transcripts, resulting in translational repression or target degradation and gene silencing as related to various human diseases such as cancer. At the recently concluded 23rd European Congress of Pathology (ECP 2011) in Helsinki, Finland, BioGenex unveiled their complete range of detection kits and probes for miRNA detection. ECP organized a special session on miRNA, the main speaker of this session was Dr. Carlo M. Croce, here a paper from BioGenex “Aberrant expression of MicroRNA-146a and MicroRNA-218 in cervical cancer H. Wang*, P. Terinate, Y. Gao, K. L. Kalra *BioGenex Laboratories, Dept. of Cell Pathology, Fremont, USA” was presented as part of this session. Dr. Krishan Kalra MD BioGenex Inc. said “This technique of in situ detection of miRNA’s in FFPE tissues on Xmatrx, featured with complete automation from Microtome to Microscope with pre-labeled probes provides high specificity, clean and intense staining. It also supports Multiplexing and co-detection of miRNA with protein biomarkers.” The detection kit comprises of all reagents including negative and positive probes needed for the staining. Combined ISH/IHC method could be seamlessly translated into miRNA-based clinical assays to assist with the management of patient care. To support the high-throughput, BioGenex has introduced detection of miRNA on FFPE tissue sections through Xmatrx making life easier and simpler. |
