Total Solution to Antigen Retrieval
Antigen Retrieval is used to recover antigenicity in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, producing markedly improved staining, and helping overcome false negative staining of over-fixed tissue. BioGenex holds numerous patents to Antigen Retrieval1, a novel technology, which created a new era in immunohistochemistry. Antigen Retrieval is now practiced routinely in laboratories throughout the world.
The BioGenex Antigen Retrieval patented method consists of the microwave heating procedure of formalin-fixed tissue in aqueous solution. The method can recover full staining with a vast majority of antibodies, including many that were previously non-reactive with formalin-fixed tissue. Improved protocols, developed by BioGenex and elsewhere, make the procedure easier to perform and help achieve consistent, reliable staining. BioGenex has developed both the Microwave Pressure Cooker2 and the Standard Microwave2 Antigen Retrieval methodologies.
Traditional deparaffinization involves treating the tissue to a series of xylene/alcohol solutions, resulting in organic waste. BioGenex has developed an aqueous solution, EZ-DeWax™ 3, which simultaneously removes paraffin and rehydrates tissue in one step. The BioGenex EZ-Retriever System, comprising the EZ-Retriever™ and EZ-AR Solutions, provides a high throughput, standardized solution to Dewax and Antigen Retrieval.
