BioGenex, the pioneer in Antigen Retrieval, offers several types of Antigen Retrieval solutions to optimize the use of antigen retrieval with the broadest range of antibodies.
EZ-AR™ Solutions
The EZ-AR™ Solutions possess unique properties that enable Dewax, Rehydration, and Antigen Retrieval in formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue sections.
Some EZ-AR™ Solutions can reach temperatures as high as 107°C. These solutions, when used with the EZ Retriever®, facilitate the production of highly reproducible and superior quality stains in a considerably short amount of time, without compromising on the morphology and antigenicity of the tissue. Furthermore, these solutions eliminate the need for enzymatic pretreatment in most cases.
Since these solutions are aqueous, there is no organic waste to dispose of at the end of the Antigen Retrieval process.

Antigen Retrieval Citra Solution
This citrate-based solution contains the buffer most used with the BioGenex patented microwave Antigen Retrieval method. It is intended for use with the BioGenex patented microwave Antigen Retrieval method for laboratory use.
The Antigen Retrieval Citra Solution provides excellent staining of routine, paraffin sections with most BioGenex antibodies, including those to Progesterone Receptor, p53 Protein, and Ki-67 Antigen (clone Ki88). Antigen Retrieval AR-10 Solution
This Tris-based solution is intended for use with the BioGenex patented microwave Antigen Retrieval method for laboratory use.
The Antigen Retrieval AR-10 solution provides excellent staining of routine, paraffin sections with BioGenex antibodies such as Caldesmon, CD3 (clone PS1), c-myc Protein, PECAM (clone 9G11), GLEPP1, and other antigens in formalin-fixed tissues. RETRIEVIT™ Target Retrieval Solutions
The Retrievit™ Target Retrieval Solutions dramatically enhance the immunoreactivity of proteins for immunohistochemistry (IHC) as well as the hybridization signal for in situ hybridization (ISH). False negative and weak staining caused by tissue processing and fixation can be eliminated. The patented microwave Target Retrieval procedure has proven effective for IHC and ISH on formalin-fixed tissue sections. (U.S. Patent Nos. 5,244,787 and 5,578,452; and corresponding Foreign Equivalents)
The Retrievit™ Solutions are formulated with an organic buffer, an ion chelator, and a chaotropic agent that synergistically produce consistently strong signal enhancement. The Retrievit™ reagents utilize a simple protocol based on the microwave heating of tissue sections in Retrievit™ buffer, followed by a slow cooling period. The microwave-based pre-treatment with the Retrievit™ reagents results in a substantial enhancement of immunostaining in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues as well as in frozen and alcohol fixed tissues.

DeCal Retrieval Solution
The DeCal Retrieval Solution is a room temperature pre-treatment solution for antigen retrieval procedure. It is designed to unmask antigens in formalin-fixed, acid-decalcified tissue embedded in paraffin or celloidin (Shi, S.R. et al., Acta Otolaryngol [Stockh] 113:48, 1993).
The DeCal Retrieval Solution is particularly useful for recovering antigenicity in acid-decalcified bone marrow. The DeCal Retrieval Solution is NOT for use with microwave heating. The DeCal Retrieval Solution is for laboratory use.

H & E Retrieval Solution
BioGenex H&E Retrieval Solution helps restore nuclear staining detail for improved hematoxylin staining in burnt tissues and fixed or over-fixed formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. It is also applicable for use in some frozen tissue section specimens that may contain a freezing artifact. This solution is a highly recommended pre-treatment step for specimens dried out before fixing in formalin, over-DeCal specimens (e.g. bone marrow biopsies), and over-processed specimens (i.e. fragile specimens such as needle biopsies).
- Restores nuclear staining detail in burnt, dried and over processed specimens.
- Applicable on frozen tissue.
